Hello my fellow Proverbs 31 women in Progress!
As we all know, the Proverbs 31 woman is an astute money manager. I must admit that I wish I was as smart as her in money matters! Anyway…
As I was meditating on Proverbs 31 chapter, I realized that the Proverbs 31 woman had a financial virtuous circle that I decided to follow and share with you today!
Here is the process of this financial virtuous circle:
Vision => Careful planning => Diligent work => Profit earning => Investment => Confidence
Vision
The Proverbs 31 woman has a vision for her household. She wants to improve the status of her home, and to help her husband to increase his prestige.
Her vision is motivated by the love she has for her family and not by selfish reasons. She is the perfect helpmeet.
Careful planning
No project can succeed without careful planning. The Proverbs 31 woman sets her goals and assesses the talents and skills she can use to advance her vision. She prays God to have strength and courage to carry out her plans.
I imagine that she probably talks about her projects to her husband if she’s married – after all when you’re married, you are supposed to be a team – even if the Biblical text seems to show her as a rather independent woman when she carries out her projects.
After all, she is a wise woman who can make sound financial decisions!
Diligent work
After planning and dreaming, here is the moment of action! The Proverbs 31 woman is a very dynamic and resourceful woman. No laziness allowed here!
She efficiently runs her business projects and uses her talents with success! She is a manufacturer and a distributor – she controls the whole chain of production of her products. Can you imagine that?
Profit
Well, the Proverbs 31 woman does not work for free, but she earns profit from her diverse business ventures. She’ll use her profit wisely, not on foolish things, but she’ll invest her profit, so that it will multiply for the benefit of her household.
Investment
Now, here is the extreme wisdom of this woman: she invests her money in ventures which will provide her an income – in the Biblical text it’s said that she plants a vineyard with her profit, and that she acquires a field. Basically, she buys assets.
Today, the investments which would provide a regular income are a portfolio of stocks, or real estate, for example.
I imagine the Proverbs 31 woman as a woman who gets her income from multiple streams of income – I’ll develop this concept in an upcoming post.
Confidence
As a brilliant woman who took care of her financial affairs very well, she can laugh of the future.
She has savings in her bank account.
She has invested her money wisely and have multiple streams of income.
Her husband can rest and follow his own projects because he has a beautiful helpmeet at home who can look after his financial interests.
Her children are well taken care of and lack nothing.
Her family raises to praise her!
This is what happens when trusting God is accompanied by wise actions!
What do you think of this financial virtuous circle? Please share your point of view!
Stay blessed!
Those steps as you’ve laid them out make a lot of sense to me. I really appreciate the emphasis you place on diligence and hard work. There is no substitute for it. I think so often, it’s easy to fall into the trap of trying to get rich quick. But that’s all it is, a trap. If you’ve grit, determination, and are willing to work hard, you can be successful. Which of the variables in the financial virtuous circle do you think is the most important?
Hello Mike,
I think they are equally important but if I have to choose one it would be planning. If you don’t set goals, you’ll work in vain. God bless you!
Thank you very much for sharing I was so blessed reading it.and I’m going to apply them by the Grace of God
Amen!
Hi Angelce , fantastic article ! I’m going to ask my wife to read it ASAP. The financial virtuous circle you talk about from vision to confidence applies to all of us. I myself practice each step regularly, all though I admit some areas need improving. One of the hardest is the last one, confidence, as in, confidence in my own abilities. As such, I find it easier to direct my confidence towards God. In other words, if we realize that God is the creator of our success, we can be confident that He will continue to provide for us in bigger and better ways. All praise belongs to Him. He will never let His faithful down. That’s something all believers should have confidence in.
May God bless
Michael
Yes indeed everybody should be inspired by this virtuous circle! Gos bless you too!
Hi There,
It’s nice to find and read from another Christian website. I am a former Southern Baptist Pastor. I too have a Christian website.
I always enjoy reading Proverbs 31, “The Virtuous Woman.” As a matter of fact, I used that passage for a funeral that I done. The woman I done the funeral for was the most godly woman I have ever met! She literally died praising God. I was at her bedside.
For a man to have a wife like the one you describe is awesome! I think my wife has always been a virtuous woman. She has to be to put up with me. We are a team. When I was a School teacher she used to help me in my classroom. When I pastored, she was my number one helper. She’s my helpmate…
Thank you,
Edward Mijarez
