Praying without acting?

My dear fellow Proverbs 31 women in progress,

I hope you are fine and that the grace of our Lord abounds in your life! Today I’ll talk about the power of prayer. Or more exactly, how we can effectively use prayer in our lives.

I know you’ll tell me: but we are Christian women and we know the power of prayer. And you’re right. However, sometimes we hear people saying that they are praying for everything and hoping that a surnatural magical wand will come and solve all their problems.

But prayer doesn’t work like that. Prayer is not a magical formula.

Well, let’s explore this question today!

Pray, but act accordingly

The Lord will not do for you what you can do for yourself.

Let me repeat: the Lord will not do for you what you can do for yourself.

That’s why prayer is a powerful tool because God accompanies us in everything with His supernatural power. But if we pray and that we don’t take action to receive our blessings, well our prayers will remain dead.

Imagine that you want to lose weight. You pray about it but you never take the first step to follow a weight loss program and to exercise, do you think that your weight will suddenly vanish?

Or if you pray for a husband but you don’t work on yourself to be wife material, do you think that the Lord will answer favorably?

Prayer is a powerful tool at our disposal. It’s the first thing we should do to ask the Lord for His blessings and His protection. But once you prayed, take action!Don’t wait!

As Christian women, we must learn to put our faith in motion. Do your part. And the Lord will do His.

When you have to wait…

However, there are circumstances where you can only pray and wait. This can happen when your prayer requests depend on external factors.

It happens for example when you have to undergo a surgery and that your fate totally depends on the Lord and the skills of the surgeon. Or if you look for a job and that you’ve passed a lot of job interviews…

In that case, you can pray and wait on the Lord’s answer to you. And rest assured that His answer always work in your best interests.

But my prayer hasn’t been answered the way I wanted…

Some years ago, I heard someone telling me that she stopped believing in God when she prayed and that her prayers weren’t answered the way she wanted.

Well, let me tell you something: when the Lord doesn’t want to give you something that you deeply wanted, do not insist. It’s probably not for you.

Also, the Lord wants to correct and us and to instruct us when our prayers are answered. Maybe we haven’t followed His ways and He wants us to come back to Him. Maybe He wants us to repent. Maybe He wants us to open our spiritual eyes and reflect on our personal situation.

As Christian women, I am sure we’ve all met this situation when the Lord doesn’t answer our prayers. And we felt bitter and ask ourselves why it happened to us.

In that case, just submit to the Lord and accept His decision, even if it’s hard for you to do so. Pray the Lord to give you a heart of flesh and not a heart of stone; so that you will be healed and accept your fate.

Well, that’s all for today? Do you think that we can pray without acting? Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Wonderful piece! “God moves when you move ” (Rev. Innocent Anthony). Let our prayers be made active by putting them in motion (into action). God always wait for us to activate that which we want in our life as long as it is in accordance to His will by taking a step of faith. He wants us to take a step, then he will move with us. The word of God is only active in motion, when put into action or being spoken. Faith without works is futile, prayers without acting is like never praying.
