Follow God and choose life

See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.

Deuteronomy 30: 15-16

My dear fellow Proverbs 31 women in progress,

I hope you are fine and that everything is going the way you want. As for me, I am currently working on an assignment which has taken all my time away and that’s why I haven’t published a post in a very long time. Fortunately, the Lord allowed me to get another job, so I hope that I’ll have more time from now on to write new posts; especially since I have a lot of ideas to share with you.

Well, today my post will be very short. I’ll talk about life choices which can affect your current and eternal fate.

Do you often regret the choices you did in the past because you decided to follow God’s commandments?

Do you believe that other people who don’t believe in God have everything you long for – a good job, a good husband, money, etc?

Do you feel that God takes time to fulfill his promises towards you?

If you feel this way, please read what will follow.

Following God is never burdensome

When you make a choice with God’s law in your mind, I can assure you that you’ll never make a mistake. Let me explain. When you decide to avoid a situation to follow God’s law, you will be rewarded even if you don’t fully understand how.

In my case, I decided to end a toxic relationship with a man who despised me and who only wanted sex from me. I realized that my relationship was against God’s natural laws and I decided to put an end to it. It was very difficult because I loved him very much but being aligned with God’s will was more important for me.

And guess what? I’ve never felt more alive and relieved, even if it was hard at the beginning because I left a very comfortable relationship where I could have eventually pushed for marriage with the guy.

What I want to emphasize here is that you don’t need to remain in a situation where you are trapped because you want to feel like everybody else. When you follow God and His commandments, you are separate from the world. Remember that you belong to a royal priesthood and a chosen generation to bring light to the world.

So yes, sometimes choosing God might be hard. You might even have problems with people when you decide to follow Him because they see that you have a light they crave for. But honestly, never feel sorry because you decided to choose life.

Your choices will enable you to avoid sin

As you already know, the wages of sin is death. Therefore, choosing to deliberately follow God will keep your soul clean and help you build your character. If you want an example from the Bible, look to Joseph, son of Jacob. You can read his story in the Book of Genesis (chapters 37 to 50).

When Joseph was sold to Potiphar, he worked so well that his master trusted him and established him head over all his possessions. However, Potiphar’s wife conceived improper feelings for Joseph and started pushing him for sex. Joseph could have slept with Potiphar’s wife and be his mistress’s gigolo.

However, because he wanted to keep his soul clean and to be aligned with God, he refused to be tempted by the seductive ways of Potiphar’s wife. And guess what? He was falsely accused of rape and even went to jail for seven years.

But God’s Hand was always on him and when he went out of jail, he became the Prime Minister of the King right away. God never abandoned him and rewarded him properly.

Therefore, please remember this:

When you follow God, you always choose life

When you come near God, He will come nearer

When you have faith in the Lord, you are always rewarded

That’s all for today! What do you think about following God, even when it’s painful? Please let me know in the comments below!

Stay blessed!

    Hi Angelce.

Thanks for sharing these valuable truth. I liked the fact that you said ”When you decide to avoid a situation to follow God’s law, you will be rewarded even if you don’t fully understand how.” I totally agree.

I’m a young man, but the principle you’ve shared is applicable for all.

I believe that, by walking the path of righteousness, when we seek to please God and align our actions with God’s desires and word, we will experience peace and joy as the outcome of our actions on the long run……that is the reward.

I am glad you found strength in Christ to say no to the relationship, and i hope many more Proverb 31 women in Progress will find courage and strength in Christ, to make the best of choices.

Keep inspiring all, with these wonderful wisdom inspired ideas. I’m sharing this with some folks right away.

I loved that you shared your testimony in there. So many of us go through the same issues, where we’re struggling with our flesh desires and God’s will.

I’ve had many great experiences choosing God instead of worldly passion. I’ve never been disappointed.ment.

I love that God is loving and forgiving (because we do need forgiveness) but his laws are perfect and provide life, just like the verse you’ve quoted above says.

Disobedience can be forgiven, but the consequences may very well still happen. We need to learn from our mistake and repent.

Love your website as it is undoubtedly thought-provoking.

Wow! Following God is the sweetest part of live, God does not require much from us, he just wants us to obey his command. These command gives life. I have been in a situation like the one you were in. God save me by using his ways to help me come out of the relationship. My advice is we should learn to always follow God’s commands.
