Hello dears!

When I used to read magazines dedicated to women, I was amazed at the beauty of actresses, singers and media personalities.

I used to investigate to see what their beauty secrets were; until you find out that they sometimes follow dangerous diets, that their pictures are often heavily airbrushed, and that some of them take drugs and starve themselves to get these results. That’s just insane to me!

As I start to follow Proverbs 31 woman’s path, I suddenly realized that beauty mainly equals health. After all, if you want to be like her, you’d better take care of your health!

Remember:

  • your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit
  • your body belongs to Christ, since He purchased you with His blood and died for your sins
  • therefore, you should give your body a special TLC (yes, I did like PYT by Michael Jackson, may he rest in peace…)

Don’t try to look like the women of the magazines. I remember Kate Winslet saying that one of her pictures was so heavily airbrushed that her thighs were diminished of one third of their real size!

Even the glorious Cindy Crawford said that she didn’t look like Cindy Crawford when she woke up.

Therefore beloved, instead of trying to achieve a quite unattainable ideal of beauty, focus on getting healthy instead. As Proverbs 31 women in progress, we must always remember that a beautiful woman is first and foremost a healthy woman.

Here are some natural remedies to get healthy and beautiful:

  • fresh air
  • water
  • sun
  • proper diet
  • exercise
  • abstinence from toxic substances
  • rest
  • faith

 

Fresh air

Fresh air will allow your body to get oxygen to work properly. I would recommend to take deep breaths when you get up from your bed in the morning. You can start with 5 deep breaths and go up until 10 deep breaths. You can also start your day with yoga or Pilates because they include deep breathing (I personally dislike yoga, but this is only my opinion).

I read somewhere that Christine Lagarde, the incumbent Managing Director of the IMF, started her day with 30 min of a yoga session. No wonder she manages to remain serene, despite all the crises she has to cope with.

Going in the countryside during weekends and/or holidays can also work.

 

Water

We should drink 6 to 8 glasses a day: 2 in the morning when we wake up, 5 during the day and one at bedtime. Sugar-free beverages such as unsweetened herbal teas and green tea work. Water will help you flush toxins out of your system and help to build your brain (brain is 70% made of water). It will also give you a great skin (yay…).

Avoid sodas and industrial fruit juices at a maximum. They are not useful for your health.

    • showers/baths (and then I think of two of my favorite Queens in history – Nefertiti and Cleopatra – in their beauty milk baths. Awesome!)

Sun

Did you know that lack of sun could drive people to depression, even to suicide?

That’s the reason why exposing yourself to the sun is important for your physical and mental health. You’ll get vitamin D to absorb calcium and have solid bones; as well as fighting depression.

Just take the necessary precautions: don’t expose yourself between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m, put on a cream to protect you from getting burnt.

Since you won’t be a depressed woman, you’ll always be smiling and believe me, a smiling woman is indeed a beautiful woman!

Diet

I imagine your faces asking me if I will sell another miracle diet… Not at all!

In fact, I will just insist on the fact that a healthy diet is imrtant for your health, and hence, for your beauty. The basis of your diet should consist of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins (except if you are vegan), legumes. You can have cheat meals from time to time because I believe that eating should be a pleasure, not a constraint (I am a Frenchwoman, excusez-moi…)

Exercise

A minimum of 30 min of exercise per day is highly recommended to stay healthy. I would advise to mix cardio (walking, jogging, swimming…) and strength training (Pilates, musculation…) to get the ultimate advantages of exercise. If you don’t have time, try to include exercise in your daily activities: take care of your garden, play with your children, walk to go to your workplace, etc.

 

Abstinence

I think the picture is clear and I don’t need to comment further. However, if you are addicted to a toxic substance, seek professional/spiritual help.

Rest

Get some quality sleep (7 to 8 hours per night are a must)! Having a light dinner in the evening can also help.

Having a moment to meditate and pray is necessary for your spiritual health since you will get a serenity and peace of mind which will reflect on your face.

I do believe, like Estee Lauder, that no woman is ugly. Being healthy is the beginning of external beauty, as far as I am concerned.

Media portrayed Body image has done all kinds of harm to women so its lovely to see a young woman reassuring others that they are all beautiful if they look after themselves and maintain health.
