My dear fellow Proverbs 31 Women in Progress,
Following a previous post on the basic needs of men, some of my readers asked me to write about the basic needs of women. I had to find the book at my cousin’s place again – and I still don’t remember the name of this book! – , but now I will share them with you!
Let me tell you that I was pleased and surprised at the same time, because these needs are so real…
Here are the 5 basic needs of women that we will develop in this post:
- love & affection
- financial support
Love & affection
A woman needs to feel loved and secure. Her husband should tell her that he loves her, and show it with little attentions, such as: gifts, sweet words, flowers, compliments, not forgetting your birthday…
Your husband must never be too busy to talk to you. You must be able to talk about everything, from trivial things to more serious topics. The conversation is an adult’s conversation, of course, and you must exchange your point of view without neccesarily arguing or fighting.
However, ladies, I have an advice on this point: if you want to have a conversation with your man, please choose your moment carefully.
Don’t insist to talk to him when he just came back from his job, or when he is obviously busy doing something important.
Look for a moment when you feel he is relaxed and ready to listen to you.
Imagine this dialogue between a husband and a wife who sees that her husband is upset with something:
-Honey, what’s happening? Is something wrong? You haven’t eaten and you look wondering…
-Oh, it’s nothing…
-Are you sure? You look sad…
-Woman, I told you there’s nothing wrong!!! How should I tell you that for you to understand? Leave me alone!
How many women tried to figure out what was happening in their men’s life and became angry because they felt that their husbands was hiding something from them? I know a lot of them.
Well, feeling that our husbands are honest and open with us is essential. We need to feel that our men don’t give us false impressions and false information about their feelings, their projects, their schedules…
A woman expects her husbands to be financially self-reliant. Why? Because it proves that he is mature enough to take care of a family and to assume his role as the provider of his family.
He must have a decent and honest job and should also be able to manage his money well, and to find ways to expand his means to support his family when necessary.
By commitment I refer to his commitment to assume his biblical role as the leader of the home. He is interested in the well-being of his family and in the upbringing of his children.
Do you agree with the basic needs of women? Have you identified other needs? Please share your point of view!
